Some good places to find rocks are:
Mountains
Caves
Beaches
Rivers
In the mountains, gold and geodes are the best to look for. Gold is deep in the Earth if you live in the desert. Geodes are rocks that have crystals inside them, and they look like regular rocks (so they are hard to find).
Caves have lots of rocks; just don't go in mines because you can get trapped.
Beaches are easy to find and have rocks that are everywhere! Some beach rocks are smooth, and some are hard Sometime you can find sea glass which is a type of rock.
By the river, it's easy to find rocks if you are on a big rock and can look around from up high to see down low. River rocks are little pebbles that look like gray, brown, and black sometimes. River rocks are smooth all the time unless they are new.
